The Associated Press on Sunday had a story reviving talk of longer school days and school years for America's students.
President Obama and Education Secretary Arne Duncan say today's children spend too little time in school, and it's putting our country at a competitive disadvantage against other nations whose students spend more hours in the classroom.
We asked in a news poll earlier this year whether readers agreed with the president that longer school days and longer school years would make our public schools better. There were 230 "no" votes, and 135 people said "yes."
I want to know what you think today. So today's question is: Would you like to see public schools in session for more days and longer days? Do you think it would help or hurt? Are you a student, parent, teacher, or none of the above?
