I received an e-mail the other day that caught my attention.
It was a forwarded e-mail, obviously one of those that gets sent to dozens of people at a time. An e-mail version of a chain letter, I guess.
This one was entitled Who is Barack Obama? Youve probably already figured out that the answer in the e-mail wasnt a super candidate who should be the next president.
Nope, far from it.
Basically, the e-mail called Obama a Muslim wrapped in a Christian package who actually is part of a plot to destroy the United States.
It goes through old allegations that since have been debunked by a number of news organizations and Web sites. They include claims that Obama attended a radical Muslim school in Indonesia, was sworn into office with a Koran not a Bible, will not recite the Pledge of Allegiance, and turns his back on the flag and slouches when others put their hands over their hearts.
The e-mail closes with these words:
The Muslims have said they plan on destroying the US from the inside out, what better way to start than at the highest level through the President of the United States, one of their own!!!!
Would you want this man leading our country?
The e-mailer even claims to have checked out these facts on snopes.com.
Well, I checked out snopes.com, which also debunks the claims.
Its one thing to dislike a candidate because you disagree with his or her policies or beliefs ... or even because you simply dont trust the person. But its another to call him an unpatriotic, religious phony terrorist who will cause Americas destruction if he becomes president.
Its sad. Its despicable. Its what makes people hate politics.
