Long time to lay blame

As I was doing regular Web posting work this morning after the deadline for our newspaper, I noticed that a particular sports poll question from the past still was running live online.

The question was, Who do you blame for the Packers losing season? Im assuming the questions been up since it was asked a few weeks ago. I promise, this Bears fan didnt intend to force everyone to dwell on Green Bays miserable season.

Mostly because of the length of time the poll remained online, it received far more responses than any other sports poll weve done since we redesigned our site 13 months ago. There were 535 responses.

For the record, 219 people blamed the defense for the Packers 6-10 season. The next favorite culprit was team GM Ted Thompson. He received 156 votes. Coach Mike McCarthy got votes from 76 people, and injuries received 39 votes (a little low, I think).

Something Bears fans cant really relate to is not blaming the quarterback. Only 15 people blamed this poor season on Aaron Rodgers. That was half as many as the 30 who blamed Brett Favre, who wasnt even with the team this year.

After weeks of voting, the polls are closed. The question has been removed from the site.
