MONROE — The Rock Valley Conference released its league selections on Wednesday, March 6, where Monroe’s James Seagreaves and Brodhead’s Allie Dahl were named Player of the Year in their respective divisions. Brian Bassett was also named the RVC-Valley Coach of the Year.
Seagreaves is a two-time first-team all-conference selection — once in the Badger Small and once in the Rock Valley-Valley. This season, he averaged 16.2 ppg, 8.5 rpg and 3.5 assists per game, which were all team-highs. His rebound and assist marks also led the league.
Monroe’s Logan Taylor was also named selected to the first team. He was second on the team with 12.9 ppg, shooting 29.6% from 3-point range and 81.2% from the line.
Teammates Ryan Mathiason and Brandon Bassett earned second-team all-conference, while Mekhi Brown was tabbed honorable mention.
Coach Bassett earned his first Coach of the Year honor, leading Monroe to a 17-8 record and league title. The Cheesemakers lost their opening playoff game to Monona Grove 68-58.
Drew Peterson from Jefferson earned Defensive Player of the Year in the Rock Valley-Valley division.
In the boys RVC-Rock division, Brodhead’s Cullen Walker and Jaxon Dooley nabbed second-team all-conference honors. Gabe Bockhop and Brody Riese received Honorable Mention honors.
Brodhead was 8-7 in league play, enough for third behind Edgerton and Turner (13-2).
Turner’s Elzavian Howard and Tyshawn Teague-Johnson were named co-Player of the Year. Howard also earned Defensive Player of the Year honors. Trojan coach Ken Watkins was named Coach of the Year.
ROCK VALLEY GIRLS
Sophomore Allie Dahl was tabbed the Rock Valley-Rock division Player of the Year, averaging 18.9 ppg, 8.0 rpg and 3.4 assists per game. Her marks put her second in scoring and rebounding and third in assists for the league.
Addison Yates was named to the second team, while Onnikah Williams and Makenna Schooff earned honorable mention.
Brodhead finished 10-5 in conference, enough for third place behind Turner (11-4) and Edgerton (15-0). Edgerton’s Nickie Shaw was named Defensive Player of the Year, while Chris Jenny and Jake Fox were tabbed Coach and Assistant Coach of the Year, respectively.
Monroe’s Sophie Golembiewski and Abbey Matley earned honorable mention recognition in the Rock Valley-Valley division. The Cheesemakers posted a 0-14 mark in conference and 2-23 record overall.
Delavan-Darien’s Addison Stallings was named Player of the Year, while Whitewater’s Calli Grosinske nabbed Defensive Player of the Year. Whippet coach Mike Dowden garnered Coach of the Year honors. Whitewater won the league title with a 10-4 record.
