MONROE — Sixteen Monroe Mat Rats wrestled in two area tourneys on Feb. 24. 

Four Mat Rats wrestled in the Parkview Youth Tournament. In their respective brackets, Ashton Laws (2012-14, 51-56 lbs) placed third; Wyatt Weckerly (2008-09, 76-85 lbs) placed fourth; Tristen Laws (2008-09, 77-80 lbs) placed third; and Payton Weckerly (2006-07, 92-100 lbs) placed third. 

Twelve Mat Rats wrestled in the Pec-Argyle Youth Tournament. In the 2012-14 brackets, Colton Ladwig (37-39 lbs) placed first; Gabrielle Harms (44-48 lbs) placed fifth; Blaine Fletcher (48-50 lbs) placed second; and Karl Nolen (65-70 lbs) placed third. In the 2010-11 brackets, Gage Ostby (45-49 lbs) placed second; Abram Homb (50-54 lbs) placed third; Kaydon Proctor (50-54 lbs) placed fourth; Briggs Hoesly (55-57 lbs) placed second; Beau Hoesly (70-76 lbs) placed fifth; and Patrick Harms (76-83 lbs) placed second. In the 2008-09 brackets, Grant Ula (75-82 lbs) placed third; and Joah Wellman (86-94 lbs) placed third.
