LA CROSSE — The Green County YMCA Gems gymnastics team competed at the Wisconsin state meet March 17 at La Crosse Central High School.
There were approximately 1,000 gymnasts and 17 teams competing across multiple levels of competition.
For Green County, Elise Kuebli was the all-around champion in Level 1, taking first in the vault and second on the beam and floor. Eliva Guth was third on the floor in Level 1, while Jayde Hawkinson was third on the vault. The Level 1 Gems finished third as a team.
In Level 2, the Gems took fourth. Alexis Gertsch was second in the all-around, taking first on the floor and third in the vault and bars. Lauren Stelter was third in the all-around and added a second-place finish on the floor. Vivian Lancaster was second on the bars and floor. Maddie Ruegsegger was first on the vault and Ella Kranig was second in vault.
The Level 3s were seventh as a team, with Brynlee Scace winning the all-around state title. Scace was first on the bars, second on floor and third on beam. Analise Newcomer was second on vault and third on floor, while Mikayla Schwartzlow was second on vault and Evie Yoraway was first on vault.
Level 4s took second as a team, with Riley Nicholson netting first place in the all-around, with a first-place finish on vault and third place on bars. Claire Holland was third in the all-around, with a second place on beam. Makayla Eddy was first on vault, Raevynn Jackson was second on vault and Kate Kundert was third on beam and floor.
In Level 5, Gabi Ryser was first in the all-around with a second place on bars and a third on the vault. Aleigh Zettle was first on the vault and Katrina Sathoff was second on vault.
The Xcel Silver team placed eighth, with Quentin Vestin taking second in the vault and bars.
The Xcel Gold group was fifth as a team, with Kyla Ziolkowski finishing first on the floor and second on bars.
