WHITEWATER — The Green County YMCA Gators Swim Team attended the 8 & Under All Star Meet hosted by the J-Hawks Swim Team on Sunday, January 26th. The meet was held at the Whitewater Aquatic & Fitness Center. Ninety four swimmers from nine teams attending this fun meet especially for swimmers 8 years old or younger. The meet included High Point Awards, two Parades of Champions, a toy raffle drawing and heat winners could select from candy or a ride down the water slide.
The meet started with the Gators taking 9th place in the Mixed 8 & Under 100 Yard Medley Relay swam by Harlan Gasaway (7), Korali Zilliox (7), Everett Ramirez (8) and Mila Daniels (6) 1:55.58.
Everett Ramirez (8) earned a 2nd place High Point Award swimming 1st place in both the Boys 8 25 Yard Free 17.58 and 25 Yard Breaststroke 25.23. He took 2nd place in the Boys 8 100 Yard IM 1:41.27 and the Boys 8 25 Yard Backstroke 20.72. Mila Daniels (6) took first place in the Girls 6 & Under 25 Yard Free 25.79 as well as the Girls 6 & Under 25 Yard Backstroke 30.12 earning a 3rd place High Point Award. Both Everett Ramirez and Mila Daniels walked in the Parade of Champions for their first place swims.
Korali Zilliox (7) finished 2nd in the Girls 7 25 Free 20.54, 4th place in both the Girls 7 25 Yard Breaststroke 32.07 and Girls 7 50 Free 46.87. She also placed 7th in the Girls 25 Yard Backstroke 27.17. Harlan Gasaway (7) took 4th place in the Boys 7 50 Yard Free 1:01.29, and 5th place in both the Boys 7 25 Free 25.67 and Boys 7 25 Yard Backstroke 31.50. Cole Mathews debuted in the Boys 8 25 Backstroke placing 15th with a time of 51.14 and 9th place in the Boys 8 50 Free 1:17.27.
The meet concluded as it started with the Gators taking 9th place in the Mixed 8& Under 100 Yard Freestyle Relay. The relay team included Korali Zilliox (6), Cole Mathews (8), Harlan Gasaway (7) and Everett Ramirez (8) 1:40.94.
