The Green County Family YMCA Gators swim team hosted a dual meet against the Dubuque YMCA Dolphins on January 24. This was the first swim meet the Gators have hosted with a visiting team since 2020. The Gators had 39 swimmers attend the meet with a combined score of 1940 and Dubuque Dolphins had a total of 57 swimmers with combined team score of 3,008. As part of the meet entrance the Gators asked for food or pet donations which will be donated to the Green County Food Pantry or the Green County Humane Society. Donations will be accepted
through January 31. The Gators also sold con-cessions and held a Chuck-A-Duck contest which was won by a father and son from Dubuque. Gators will host their next home meet on Saturday February 14 vs. Dane County YMCA United. Gators Brave the Cold for 8 & Under All Star Meet
The Gators swim team braved the bitter cold on Sunday, January 25 and attended the 8 and Under All Star meet hosted by the J-Hawks Aquatic Club. The meet was held at the Whitewater Aquatics
Center with 12 teams in attendance including Dfac Swimming, Foglia Aquaducks, Lake Country Swim Team, Lake Geneva YMCA Ducks, Lifetime Fitness Wisconsin Swim, New Berlin Swim Club, Oregon Community Swim Club, Southeastern Aquatics, Southwest Aquatic Team and Watertown Aquatic Team. This is a fun meet for swimmers aged 8 years old or younger. Swimmers can win trips down the center’s water slide, walk in the parade of champions and win fun raf-fle prizes. The Green County Gators took ninth place over-all with a combined team points of 192.5. The Gators were represented by five swimmers including Maren Bartels (8), Mila Daniels (7), Harlan Gasaway (8), Mira Gasaway (6) and Espn Martin (8). All five Gators had personal best records with Mira Gasaway (6) leading the team with High Points awards for the meet. Mira earned 79 points with a first place in the Girls 6 & Under 25 Breast (35.81Y), third in the Girls 6 & Under 50 Free (1:04.23Y), fourth in the
Girls 6 & Under 25 Free (27.83Y) and sixth place in the Girls 6 & Under 25 Back (29.93Y). Harlan Gasaway (8) earned 61.5 points with third place finish in both the Boys 8, 25 Free (19.96Y) and
Boys 8, 25 Breast (28.64Y), ninth in the Boys 8, 50 Free (47.36Y) and eleventh in the Boys 8, 25 Back (27.20Y).
Mila Daniels (7) earned 42 points with a second place finish in the Girls 7, 25 Breast (27.95Y), 10th in the Girls 7, 25 Back (25.82Y) and 11th in the
Girls 7, 25 Free (22.13Y). Espn Martin (8) earned 10 points in the Girls 8, 100 IM (2:01.65Y). The Gators also competed in the Mixed 8 & Under 100 Yard Medley Relay. Harlan Gasaway (8) swam back-stroke, Espn Martin (8) swam breaststroke, Mila Daniels (7) swam butterfly, and Maren Bartels (8) anchored with Freestyle with a time of 1:46.54. The Mixed 8 and Under 100 Yard Free Relay finished with a time of 1:35.39 and was swam by Espn Martin (8), Mira Gasaway (6), Maren Bartels (8) and Harlan Gasaway (8).
