MILWAUKEE — The Monroe-based YMCA swim team, the Gators, ended their fall-winter season with an outstanding showing at the YMCA state meet held in Milwaukee.
Thirty-six Gator swimmers qualified and competed at the meet. The Gator team finished eighth overall out of all of the YMCA teams in the state and was the top small team at the meet. The women ended up fourth overall.
The Green County YMCA team had 21 Top-3 finishes total at the meet, with three of those being first-place championship swims.
State champions were Nate Josephs in the 50-yard butterfly and 100-yard Individual Medley, and Mason Yaun in the 50-yard breaststroke. The Gators also had four swimmers qualify for YMCA Nationals this year. Morgan Erstad, Mekenzie Hammer and Faith Sill qualified individually for YMCA Nationals and Alyssa Roelli qualified on a relay.
