ALBANY — Linsey Mueller, a student at Albany Schools, was selected as one of the two Wisconsin Ambassadors to the NFL’s Fuel up to Play 60 program on April 20. The program, sponsored in part by the National Dairy Council and the USDA, was launched as an in-school nutrition and physical activity program aimed to help encourage students to lead healthier lives.
Mueller has been a part of Albany’s Play 60 team for the past three years and has taken on various leadership roles. Last year she helped develop a “brain break” program at Albany, where classes pause learning for a short physical activity before reengaging in the classroom lesson.
“Fuel Up to Play 60 has allowed me to become more outgoing and has given me confidence in my public speaking abilities,” Mueller said, adding that the program “has given me the opportunity to make a difference in my school and community by implementing different programs such as new healthy options for students to sample, and by promoting different ways for students to get active.”
In July, Mueller attended a conference in Georgia where Albany teacher Brian Adams went along as an advisor, and the pair attended another conference in Green Bay in August to learn about bringing healthy options to Albany schools. Adams and Jill Schott are Albany’s physical education teachers that assist with the program.
Anyone can sign up to get involved in the program.
