Wiota smashes Bullets

WIOTA - Jeff Solberg didn't have any problems hitting with a temperature of 102 degrees on a sticky day.

Solberg went 5-for-5 with five RBIs and two doubles to lead Wiota to a 13-3 win over Blanchardville in seven innings in a Home Talent League game on Wednesday.

Wiota (7-3) scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back. The Indians scored three runs in the second and third to take an 8-2 lead. The Indians put the game away with a four-run fifth.

Wiota's Merrill Brunson and Justin Doyle were each 2-for-3. Nick Flannery finished 2-for-4 for the Indians.

Wiota's Tommy Meier pitched six innings to get the win. He gave up three runs on three hits. He struck out seven and walked four.

Theron Theobald was 2-for-2 to lead Blanchardville. With the loss, Blanchardville drops to 2-8.

Tannar Johnson pitched three innings for the Bullets and gave up eight runs on seven hits. Dave Cleary tossed two innings in relief and gave up four runs on five hits.
