SOUTH WAYNE - Black Hawk junior Jen Wellnitz recently received her first scholarship offer, from Drake University to play basketball.
Wellnitz is a four-sport athlete at Black Hawk in basketball, track, softball and volleyball.
During the 2011-12 basketball season, she averaged 14 points, 8.3 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 3.4 steals per game, earning Six Rivers Conference player of the Year and WBCA first team All-State.
This summer, she led the Wisconsin Academy 16U team to a 30-5 record and four tournament titles including a national title at the prestigious "Run for the Roses" National Championship in Lexington, Ky.
She also is receiving interest from Wisconsin, UW-Milwaukee, UW-Green Bay, Marquette, Creighton, Northern Illinois, Evansville, Youngstown State, and others.
