JUDA - Any time a prep basketball team has an inside-outside game working like clock work, it spells trouble for opponents.

Black Hawk had all facets of its offensive game rolling as the Warriors blasted Juda 68-38 Tuesday night. Black Hawk senior Michael Place and junior T.J. Adams combined to score 51 points.

Place scored 19 of his game-high 30 points in the first half. Adams, who drilled three 3-pointers, scored 17 of his 21 points in the first half as the Warriors steamrolled their way to 22-point halftime lead.

"You always have to be concerned when a team is better than they are playing," Place said. "You always have to be weary. Our guards hit a lot of shots early and that opened everything up."

Juda (4-12, 2-7 Six Rivers East) jumped out to a 6-3 first quarter lead on a jumper by senior Steve West. From there, Black Hawk (10-7, 5-4) went on a 12-4 run ignited by Adams' 3-pointer to give the Warriors an 11-8 lead with 3 minutes, 47 seconds left in the period.

Adams drained a 3-pointer at the end of the first quarter to give the Warriors a 20-12 lead.

The Panthers were hurt when senior Beau Benner was saddled with his second foul.

"He (Benner) got two ticky tack fouls," Juda coach Andy Werner said. "We had to put someone else on Place. T.J. came in and hit every shot.

"We should have been in the game. We didn't play a lick of defense. There's no secret about what happened in the game. They just took it to us."

Black Hawk limited Benner to to just three first half points. Benner finished with 11 points and senior Tyler Pierce had 10 for the Panthers.

"To me, (Benner) is the cog that runs their ship, him and Tyler Pierce," Black Hawk coach Jerry Mortimer said.

Adams opened the second quarter by nailing a 3-pointer to push the Warriors' lead to 23-12. The Warriors went on a 19-5 second quarter run highlighted by Place powering his way up for baskets down low. Black Hawk senior Shane Jackson hit a jumper to cap the run and extended the lead to 39-17.

"We knew they would try doubling Place," Adams said.

Adams said the guards and Jackson knew they had to hit some open shots.

"Offensively, we played the best game of the season," he said. "We have been waiting for this game for however long."

The Warriors didn't let up, outscoring the Panthers 15-12 in the third quarter. Place scored down low with 1:08 left in the third quarter to give the Warriors a 54-29 lead.

Mortimer was excited about the offensive efficency.

"This is the best we have shot all year," Mortimer said. "Everyone was in rythym. This was one of our best games from beginning to end."
