The nominations for the Monroe Athlete of the Week are:

Stephanie Wyss: The senior won three individual events to help the Cheesemakers sweep a double dual from Stoughton and Fort Atkinson. She won the 200-meter dash (:27.4), 400 (1:00.9) and the high jump (5-0). At the Monona Grove Invite May 15, she finished second in the 800 (2:26.99) and sixth in the high jump (5-0).

Carson Root: The junior No. 1 singles player defeated Milton's Corey Stinger 6-0, 6-2. He followed that up by teaming with Taylor Soddy in the Cheesemaker Doubles tournament where Root and Soddy finished second place No. 1A doubles.

Kelsey Erickson: The junior went 4-for-5 in the Cheesemakers' 12-9 win over Oregon May 14.

Area Boys

Reid Zanoya, Monticello: Zanoya had a stellar track meet at the Sugar River Invite May 14. He won the 200 (:23.6) and finished second in the 100 (:11.6) and second in the long jump (19-11 3/4).

Bryan Reichling: The junior golfer shot a 46 to help the Redbirds finish third at the SWAL meet at Cuba City. He followed that up with an even par 35 at the Darlington Country Club May 14 as the Redbirds took third.

Tyler Meier, Monticello: The senior went a combined 4-for-5 in a doubleheader sweep over Black Hawk Saturday.

Area Girls

Kelsey Bartels, Argyle: The junior went 4-0 last week with a no-hitter, a one-hit shutout and a three-hit shutout.

Katie Viney, Sugar River: Viney scored four goals to help Sugar River post three wins to capture the Janesville Parker tournament championship May 15.

Erika Stampfli, Brodhead: The junior tossed a complete game one-hit shutout to lead the Cardinals to an 8-0 win over Orfordville Parkview. Stampfli had 14 strikeouts.
