Monroe
- Aaron Hesgard, Wrestling: Went 6-1 in seven matches this week at 119 pounds, including a perfect 5-0 at the Verona Duals with four pins.
- Michael Barrett, Boys Basketball: Scored 22 points as the Cheesemakers knocked off Mount Horeb on Jan. 8.
- Kylee Ritschard, Girls Basketball: Led Monroe 12 points in a win over Elkhorn and added 13 points and six rebounds in a loss to Milton.
Area Boys
- Mike Nolden, Sugar River Wrestling: Took first place at the Sauk Prairie Invite on Jan. 8 in the 189-pound bracket.
- Andy Stauffacher, Black Hawk Wrestling: Went 4-1 at the Northeast Invitational in Iowa on Jan. 8, tying for first place in the heavyweight division. A year ago, in his first season wrestling, Stauffacher was winless.
- J.J. Panoske, Brodhead Basketball: Scored 21 points in a win over Albany and had another 20 in a loss to Clinton.
Area Girls
- Rosy Bauman, Albany Basketball: The senior scored 15 points and hit three key 3-pointers in a conference victory over Pecatonica Jan. 7.
- Carly Mohns, Brodhead Basketball: The freshman scored 10 points in a win over Evansville and added 21 points in an 80-12 rout of Palmyra-Eagle.
- Amy Jorgenson, Darlington Basketball: The junior scored 15 points in a win over Dodgeville and had 16 points in a victory against Riverdale.
