Monroe:

Bryan Tordoff, Boys Basketball, Scored 20 points in a Jan. 23 loss to Waunakee, one of the top-ranked teams in the state in Division 1 at the Badger Conference Challenge.

Dylan Schwitz, Wrestling, Lost a heartbreaker, 5-4, to Stoughton's Austin Wersal Jan. 19 in the 145-pound match. Won the 145-pound title at the Monroe Invitational.

Nick Walker, Wrestling, Picked up one of Monroe's few wins against state powerhouse Stoughtonin the heavyweight match Jan. 19. Won the heavyweight title at the Monroe Invitational Jan. 23.

Area Boys:

Alex Erickson, Darlington Basketball, Hit three 3-pointers and scored 21 points in the Redbirds' 57-34 win over Riverdale on Jan. 21. Scored 14 points in a 65-59 win over state-ranked Barneveld Jan. 23.

Tyler Ritschard, Monticello Basketball, Scored 26 points in a 68-40 win over Albany Jan. 18, which included 18 points in the first quarter and six total 3-pointers. Ritschard also scored five points in a 42-31 win over Mineral Point Jan. 23

Mark Brugger, Darlington Wrestling, Finished second at the Monroe Invitational in the heavyweight division. A day earlier, Brugger beat Cuba City-Southwestern's Mike Loeffelholz, 3-0.

Area Girls:

Amy Jorgenson, Darlington Basketball, scored 19 points in a 56-50 win over Southwestern Jan. 19. On Jan. 22, Jorgenson was held to five points in the Redbirds' 41-37 loss to Boscobel.

Hayli Peach, Albany Basketball, Scored 30 points, including six 3-pointers, in a comeback effort to beat Juda, 56-46, Jan. 19. On Jan. 22, Peach was held to just three points as the Comets fell to conference leader Black Hawk, 47-34.

Michelle Preston, New Glarus Basketball, Scored 12 points, including three 3-pointers in a 55-51 win over Wisconsin Heights Jan. 19. Three nights later, Preston helped keep the Knights in second place in the Capitol South by hitting four 3s and scoring 14 points.
