VOLLEYBALL: Perfect finish for Cardinals

BRODHEAD - Kristin Ruchti had 10 kills Tuesday as Brodhead finished a perfect 10-0 in Rock Valley volleyball play with a sweep over Palmyra-Eagle (2-5) 25-9, 25-18, 25-14.

Cassie Wymer dished out a hearty 34 assists and added a pair of aces for Brodhead, which now prepares for its first-round regional matchup next week in the WIAA playoffs.

Courtney Mielke had nine digs, Amanda Johnson had eight digs, and Dana Lewis added nine kills and four blocks for the Cardinals in the win.

The win is icing on the cake for Brodhead, as they won the Rock Valley South in dominating fashion, with no team within three wins of the Cardinals.

Wisconsin Heights 3, New Glarus 0

BLACK EARTH - Wisconsin Heights (8-0 Capitol South) continued its domination of the conference and spoiled New Glarus' upset bid before it started.

The Glarner Knights (2-6 Capitol South) finished in second place at the Darlington Invite over the weekend and had hoped for a boost in play. However, the long drive only led to a 25-9, 25-12, 25-10 defeat.

Kalie French had a kill and two digs for New Glarus. Teammates Anysia Secord, Janna LeGros, Kelsey Zimmerman and Tierra Brinkmeier each had a kill in the match. Secord added a pair of digs and Kaitlin Schluter dished out two assists.

Pecatonica 3, Argyle 0

BLANCHARDVILLE - The Vikings (8-3 Six Rivers East) downed the Orioles (1-10) in straight sets, 25-19, 25-15, 25-7.

Pecatonica senior Brittany Kent had 13 kills, 10 digs and four aces. Ellie Gifford had 11 assists for the Vikings.

The Orioles were led by Lindsay Flanagan with 10 digs and Ashley Nelson with seven assists. Argyle senior Kelsey Ostby had four kills.

Pecatonica hosts Barneveld (5-6), while Argyle welcomes Black Hawk (11-0) in the last day of the regular season Thursday.
