Vikings topple Argyle

ARGYLE - The Pecatonica High School volleyball team made sure there were no more unbeatens in the Six Rivers East Conference by upending Argyle in four sets Tuesday.

Pecatonica senior Clara Moen had nine kills and three aces to propel the Vikings to a 23-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-18 win over Argyle.

It marks the first conference loss for the Orioles (8-3, 4-1 Six Rivers East). Pecatonica improves to 8-3, 4-2 Six Rivers East.

"We had too many errors and missed serves," Argyle coach Jen Butler said. "Pec definitely wanted it more than us."

Pecatonica junior Liz Tisch racked up 25 assists. Senior teammate Britt Miller had three blocks and three aces.

Butler's message to the Orioles was clear after the match.

"I told them they had to clean up the errors and really had to want it," Butler said. "I guess they just had an off night."

Argyle sophomore Ashley Bruehlman posted team-highs with 10 kills and six blocks. Junior teammate Kayla Butler-Paulson dished out 19 assists and posted 16 digs. Sam Mick had a team-best seven aces.



Brodhead 3,

Beloit Turner 0

BRODHEAD - Brodhead continues to keep pace with Walworth Big Foot in the Rock Valley South after rolling to a sweep of Beloit Turner.

Brodhead senior Amber Pickel had a team-high 19 kills to lead the Cardinals to a

25-15, 25-19, 25-15 win. Brodhead improves to 4-1 Rock Valley South.

Brodhead senior Kylie Moe had 12 kills, notched nine digs and posted four aces. Brodhead freshman Abbey Johnson dished out 31 assists, and sophomore Erin Nyhus had a team-best five aces.



Darlington 3, Riverdale 1

DARLINGTON - With a big crowd decked out in beach gear, Darlington was able to hang on for a win over Riverdale.

Darlington sophomore Kennedy Rankin had a

team-high 10 kills and four blocks to lead the Redbirds to a 25-23, 25-17, 19-25, 25-21 win.

"I was hoping that we would outlast them," Darlington coach Jen Schwartz said. "I was hoping they would not let the distractions get in the way of a win. It's homecoming week so we have a lot of distractions. We had a fantastic crowd, and they helped us push through."

Darlington improves to 6-4, 3-3 SWAL.

"To be .500 halfway through conference is where we want to be right now," Schwartz said. "Besides Cuba City and Southwestern, all of the teams are pretty even. We are beating up on each other."

Darlington junior Callie Norton posted 10 assists and notched a team-best four aces. Junior Taylor Jacobson had a team-high 11 digs.



In other action, Barneveld defeated Albany 25-17,

25-12, 25-12. Barneveld's Kelsee Fargo had nine assists.
