Vikings shut down Albany

ALBANY - Gavin Burdick and Brooks Chandler combined for six hits to help the Pecatonica High School baseball team bash Albany 16-0 in six innings on Monday.

Chandler went 2-for-2, and Burdick was 3-for-4 to lead the Vikings, who pounded out 10 hits. Junior teammate A.J. Hendirkcson went 2-for-3 with two doubles.

Pecatonica (9-1, 5-0 Six Rivers East) will play at Barneveld today.

"That will be a big game," Pecatonica coach Jim Strommen said of the showdown with the Golden Eagles.

Pecatonica freshman Carter Ruegsegger pitched a three-hit shutout to get the win. He struck out five.

Albany junior Brock Gilkes went six innings and gave up five earned runs on 10 hits over six innings. Gilkes struck out three and walked eight.

Albany senior Tyler Dahl and Drew Kennedy were each 1-for-2.



Brodhead-Juda 10, East Troy 5

BRODHEAD - Brodhead-Juda junior Tyler Flannery had a game to remember going 3-for-4 with a home run and five RBI to power the Cardinals over East Troy.

Flannery also had two doubles to lead the Cardinals.

Brodhead-Juda junior Layne Millard went 4-for-4 with three runs scored, two RBI and two stolen bases for a Cardinals team that had 12 hits. Brodhead-Juda had a four-run third inning to take a 6-1 lead. Junior Austin Diffenderfer went 2-for-3 and junior Tyler Hoesly was 2-for-4.

Hoesly pitched 51⁄3 innings to get the win. He gave up four earned runs on five hits, struck out six and walked four.



Argyle 11,

Black Hawk 5

ARGYLE - Junior Cam Treuthardt had three hits and drove in two runs to lead Argyle over Black Hawk.

Argyle junior Collin Argue went 2-for-4 with three RBI and senior Will Herman also had two hits to lead the Orioles. Argyle broke the game open with a five-run second inning to take a 6-1 lead. The Orioles won despite committing five errors.

Argue pitched four innings and struck out five to get the win. Teammate Mitch Flannery tossed three innings and struck out four.

Black Hawk was limited to five hits. Sophomore Brody Milz walked twice.

Black Hawk junior pitcher Reesan Ruch pitched six innings and gave up 11 runs on 11 hits. He struck out seven.
