STOUGHTON - The Monroe volleyball team struggled to put hits away at the net and Stoughton cruised to a 25-13, 25-14, 25-11 win over the Cheesemakers Thursday.
Monroe senior Sydney Mathiason had a team-high seven kills and two blocks. Freshman Zoee Pond added two kills and had a team-best seven digs.
"Our hitters were just not on tonight," Monroe coach Heidi Witt said. "When one of them is off you expect someone else to step up and get us going. If our hitters would have been finding the floor on the other side it would have changed the dynamics."
Senior Alexis Allen had six assists and one ace. Senior Alysha Witt added four assists. With the loss, Monroe drops to 2-7, 0-4 Badger South.
"I don't think they were an unbeatable team if we would have played to our potential," Witt said. "Our passing and setting wasn't perfect, but they were there for the most part. Our hitters just didn't put them down. We just did not show up tonight."
Monroe will host Fort Atkinson Sept. 21 in another conference match.
