MAZOMANIE - Wisconsin Heights scored two goals in the first 5 minutes and went on to knock off the Monroe High School boys soccer team 4-0 in the season opener on Tuesday.
"We had a couple of mistakes early and we dug ourselves a hole," Monroe coach Tony Vasquez said. "We kind of weathered the storm and they scored two more goals late in the second half. We just didn't have enough juice."
Monroe junior goalie Deven Schulte had 11 saves.
"We knew they are a pretty good program," Vasquez said of Wisconsin Heights. "We try not to play tough teams at the beginning of the year. It just ended up like that. We had a tough one out of the gate."
Monroe hosts Dodgeville at 5 p.m. Thursday before hosting a quad Saturday at Honey Creek Park.
