MONROE - The Avalanche U14 girls hockey team played a doubleheader against the U19 Dubuque She Devils Friday. The Avalanche took control and dominated both games, winning 8-2 in the first game.
Anna Geichauf scored her first goal on an assist by Madeline Williams, and Rachael Jenkins also scored early in the third period. Also scoring goals were Williams, Brooke Teubert (two goals), Rebekah Rath, Tessa Janecke and Cammi Ganshert. Notching assists on those goals were Gleichauf, Alyssa Knauf, Teubert, Anika Einbeck and Lilah Bauer. The Avalanche outshot the She Devils 31-8.
In the second game, the Avalanche rotated players from offense to defense and again won 8-2. Tessa Janecke got a hat trick while Haley Knauf, Teubert, Ganshert, Einbeck, and Rachael Jenkin each added one goal. Einbeck earned a playmaker. Also getting assists: Haley Knauf, Rebekah Rath, Anna Gleichauf (two), Anna Malone and Alyssa Knauf. The Avalanche outshot the She Devils 39-14.
On Sunday, the U14 girls hosted Polar Caps PeeWee B. The first period was scoreless; Tessa Janecke opened scoring in the second period with an assist from Lilah Bauer. The Polar Caps responded with one of their own, followed by an Avalanche goal by Alyssa Knauf on an assist by Tessa Janecke. Alyssa Knauf scored a goal on an assist by Teubert. The Polar Caps scored three more goals to beat the Avalanche 5-3. Goalie Ally Esch recorded 33 saves.
PeeWee A
The Avalanche PeeWee A traveled to Reedsburg to take on Reedsburg-Wisconsin Dells Sunday. The Avalanche dominated a physical game, winning 4-2. The Avalanche scored three goals to RWD's one in the first period. Cade Janecke scored two goals and Hayden Roth had one goal. Assisting on those goals were Jayden Johnson, Tessa Janecke and Anika Einbeck. Einbeck found the back of the net in the second period on an assist by Tessa Janecke. Goalie Heath Bear recorded 30 saves.
The Avalanche PeeWee A hosted the Dubuque Jr. Saints A on Saturday. Tessa Janecke scored a goal on an assist by Ryan Molitor, with 1:22 left in the first period. The Jr. Saints got on the board four minutes into the second period. On passes from Hayden Roth and Tessa Janecke, Alyssa Knauf put one in the back of the net. The Jr. Saints added three unanswered goals in the third period, giving the Avalanche their second loss of the season. Bear recorded 29 saves. The PeeWee A record stands at 18-2-1.
