U12 girls get weekend split on ice

MONROE - The Avalanche U12 girls hockey team won their 2012 home opener, defeating the Waukesha Wolves U12 team 10-9 Saturday. Earning hat tricks were Alyssa Knauf and Tessa Janecke. Janecke scored five goals. Anika Einbeck added two goals.

Earning assists were Knauf (2), Anna Malone, Janecke and Einbeck. Goalie Sarah Nicholas recorded 17 saves.

On Sunday, the Avalanche hosted the U12 Junior Fury and lost 12-7.

Janecke scored the opening goal and recorded a hat trick for the Avalanche, netting five goals total. Cammi Ganshert added two goals.

Earning assists were Ganshert, Anika Einbeck (2) and Ally Einbeck. Nicholas recorded 25 saves.

The Avalanche will take on the DC Diamonds at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 18 at SLICE.

Avalanche Squirt A

The Avalanche Squirt A team lost to the Dubuque Junior Saints Squirt A team 8-1 on Nov. 3. Cade Janecke scored the lone Avalanche goal, assisted by Payton Stauffacher. Goalie Heath Bear recorded 35 saves.

On Sunday, the Avalanche dropped a hard-fought game 3-0 to Oregon. Bear recorded 36 saves. The Avalanche also defeated the Madison Patriots Squirt A for 8-2. Luke Kuberski and Tessa Janecke each earned a hat trick. Kuberski had four goals. Hayden Roth added another goal. Earning assists for the Avalanche were Stauffacher (2), Cade Janecke (2), Alyssa Knauf and Kuberski. Bear recorded 22 saves, while the Avalanche had 29 shots on goal.

The Avalanche will take on Southwest A at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10 at SLICE.

Avalanche Squirt B

The Avalanche Squirt B fell to the Dubuque Junior Saints Squirt B team 3-0 Saturday. Goalie Aiden Runkle recorded 23 saves.

On Sunday, the Avalanche fell 6-0 in a hard fought game at home against Southwest B. Runkle recorded 23 saves.

The Avalanche will host Stoughton Squirt A on Saturday, at 9:45 a.m.

Open Skate

An open skate/open hockey event will be held on weekend nights and will typically be as noted below. Schedule is subject to change without notice. Fridays - Open Skate/Open Hockey 6:45-9 p.m.
