MONROE - The Avalanche U12 Girls team had a 9-5 win over the U12 Jr. Fury on Saturday, Dec. 29. Scoring for the Avalanche were Anika Einbeck, Tessa Janecke (hat trick), Lilah Bauer and Alyssa Knauf (two goals). Earning assists were Cammi Ganshert (playmaker), Janecke (two), Ally Einbeck (two), Anna Malone, Haley Knauf, and Alyssa Knauf. Goalie Sarah Nicholas recorded 12 saves.
Squirt A
The Squirt A team traveled to Verona on Sunday, Dec. 30. The score was tied 1-1 at the end of the first period with Hayden Roth scoring for the Avalanche, assisted by Cade Janecke. Monroe scored one goal each in the second and third periods, but Southwest pulled away with six goals. The Avalanche lost 7-3. Scoring in the second and third periods were Cade Janecke and Tessa Janecke, on assists by Roman Bauer. Goalie Heath Bear recorded 32 saves.
The Avalanche then traveled to the Wisconsin Dells shut down their squirt team 10-0. Scoring for the Avalanche were Cade Janecke (hat trick), Hayden Roth (two goals), Luke Kuberski, Tessa Janecke, Payton Stauffacher, Alex Henry and Haley Knauf. Notching assists were Hayden Roth (playmaker), Cade Janecke, Tessa Janecke, Alyssa Knauf, Haley Knauf, Stauffacher and Bauer. The Avalanche had 25 shots on goal.
On Saturday, Dec. 29 the Avalanche hosted the McFarland Spartans and lost 4-3. Kuberski opened the scoring for the Avalanche, assisted by Tessa Janecke and Alyssa Knauf.
The Spartans added a goal with one second left in the first period. Alyssa Knauf scored the second goal for the Avalanche, assisted by Roth. However, the Spartans added two more goals in the second period and one in the third. Alyssa Knauf scored the last Avalanche goal, assisted by Anika Einbeck and Cade Janecke. Bear recorded 25 saves.
Squirt B
On Saturday, Dec. 29, the Avalanche Squirt B hosted Janesville Squirt C and won 8-2.
Scoring for the Avalanche were Ryan Molitor (two goals), Ethan Williams (two goals), Alvin Buholzer, Brady Smith, Jayden Johnson and Colton O'Connor.
Earning assists were Rob Schroeder (two), Smith, Johnson, Buholzer, Williams and Molitor. The Avalanche had 30 shots on goal. Goalie Aiden Runkle recorded just seven saves, as the defensive line kept the puck away from the net.
On Sunday, Dec. 30, the Squirt B lost 4-3 in Sun Prairie. Scoring for the Avalanche were O'Connor, Buholzer and Molitor, assisted by Kendall Wild and Williams. Runkle had 18 saves, and the Avalanche had 16 shots on goal.
PeeWee
On Saturday, Dec. 29, the Monroe Avalanche Peewee team hosted Oregon and won a hard fought game 8-5.
Travis Edmunds and Cade Janecke each scored two goals for Monroe while Charlie Harris, Joe Wyss, Jared Cline and Roman Bauer each scored once. Wyss and Janecke recorded two assists while Riley Jones, Cammi Ganshert, Payton Stauffacher, Cline, Edmunds and Bauer each were credited with one. Jayden Johnson stopped 28 shots on goal.
On Sunday, the team traveled to Stoughton and won convincingly 9-3. Stauffacher scored the Avalanche's first goal with a blast from just inside the blue line. Moments later Tessa Janecke added the second goal. The Avalanche continued to control the offensive zone as Edmunds scored three times and Wyss added two more goals. Cade Janecke and Harris also each scored two goals. Cade Janecke and Cline recorded two assists while Connor Nafzger, Edmunds, Wyss and Tessa Janecke each added one. Johnson stopped 15 shots in goal.
The team will travel to Sauk City on Saturday and host Waunakee on Sunday.
