U12 Avalanche girls shutout Dubuque U18 team

MONROE - Monroe U12 Girls team opened the 2010-11 season with a huge victory over the U18 Dubuque girls team with a score of 8-0.

Kayla Einbeck scored four goals. Molly Gross scored three goals and Ally Einbeck scored one goal.

Strong defense from Cammi Ganshert, Emma Ness, and Haley Knauf held the Dubuque girls at bay. Goalie Jenna Schmerbach earned a shutout, with 23 saves. The Avalanche received assists from Cammi Ganshert and Tessa Janecke. There was strong offensive play from Alyssa Knauf and Anika Einbeck.

The girls ages 6 to 12, used their skills and teamwork to out skate the 11 to 19-year-old girls on the Dubuque team.

The U12 girls team was formed December 2009 with this season being the first full season of play. Those interested in joining the team can call Liz Gerhard at (608) 214-1718. They practice every Monday and Wednesday night.
