MONROE - There are 11 area wrestlers heading to the WIAA state tournament after finishing in the top three of their respective weight classes at various sectional meets Saturday.

Three from Monroe High School qualified out of the WIAA Division 2 Richland Center sectional: senior Cole Murray at 138 pounds, junior Sam Kind (160) and senior Hayden Arneson (195). The other wrestlers who earned state berths from the Richland Center sectional are Brodhead-Juda's Jackson Hauri (132), Evansville-Albany's Chase Katzenmeyer (126), Evansville-Albany's Nolan Kicmol (145), Evansville-Albany's Lucius Rinehart (195) and Brandon Lange (heavyweight).

Arneson (31-6) placed second at 195 to qualify for state for the second straight year. He defeated Stephen Ronnfeldt 14-1 in a quarterfinal match. Arneson then edged Lodi's J.P. Walterscheit 10-9 in a semifinal. In the championship match, Rinehart beat Arneson 10-3. Arneson finished second based on his previous win against Ronnfeldt.

Both Murray (138) and Kind (160) placed third for the Cheesemakers and are making their first trips to state. Murray (33-11) pinned Richland Center's Tylor Miller in 1 minute, 58 seconds. He then lost to Viroqua's Ryan Hannah 8-0. Murray came back and beat Sugar River's John Chenoweth 8-3 in a third-place match.

Kind (26-8) edged Mount Horeb's Aquoya Faust 3-1 in a quarterfinal match. Viroqua's Dalton Bennett then defeated Kind 10-1 in a semifinal match. Kind clipped Beloit Turner's Giovanni Haney 6-5 to take third.

Monroe senior Kyle Walter (heavyweight), a state qualifier last season, finished fourth and just missed earning a state berth. Senior Aaron McCarthy of Cuba City-Benton-Southwestern beat Walter in an ultimate tiebreaker 4-2.

For Brodhead-Juda, Hauri (38-4) finished second. He pinned West Salem-Bangor's Joe Hess in 1:29 in his first match. Hauri then beat Traeton Saint of Prairie du Chien-Wauseka-Steuben 7-2 in a semifinal match. In the title match, River Valley's Zach Licht defeated Hauri in a technical fall 15-0. Hauri took second based on his previous win against Saint.

The state qualifiers from the WIAA Division 3 Mineral Point sectional are Black Hawk-Darlington's Kolbe Ubersox (132) and Tyler Mosely (170), and Pecatonica-Argyle's Prestan Rosensteil (182).

Ubersox (40-3) will be making his second straight trip to state after finishing second in the sectional. He pinned La Crosse Aquinas' Albert Flottmeyer in 1:01. Ubersox then beat Ithaca-Weston's Gavin Burch 8-1. Deerfield's Cal Hansen pinned him in 1:03 in the championship match. Ubersox finished second after defeating Fennimore's Maguire Fitzgerald in a technical fall 15-0 in 4:34.

Mosely (24-18) defeated Brookwood's Kyle Juedes 10-2 in a quarterfinal match. In the semifinals, Mosely defeated Fennimore's Tyler Kaas 12-6. Iowa-Grant-Highland's Brady Peat pinned him in the championship match in 27 seconds. Marshall's Walt Easley defeated Mosely 7-3 in a second-place match.

Rosenstiel (23-12) cruised over Westby's Jack Lipski with a pin in 1:52. Lancaster's Troy Klein then pinned him in 5:09 in a semifinal match. Rosensteil rebounded by pinning Brookwood's Jaden Havlik in 59 seconds. In a third-place match, Rosensteil pinned Ithaca-Weston's Cade Netteshiem in 3:06.
