MONROE - The Monroe Youth Hockey Squirts (9 and 10 year-olds) played three exciting games this weekend, coming away with two wins and a tie. They opened the three-game weekend with a 3-2 home victory over McFarland. Tyler Johnson scored all three goals for the Avalanche on assists from Jared Cline and Trenten Prien. Goalie Kobe Manor recorded 10 saves for Monroe.
Traveling to Madison Ice Arena for a Sunday morning game, the Avalanche skated to a 4-4 tie with the Polar Caps. Johnson achieved another three-goal hat-trick, while Prien scored Monroe's fourth goal and was credited with an assist. Goalie Jacob Ritschard had 22 saves.
Closing out the weekend in Janesville, the Avalanche fell behind 3-0 after the first period but came roaring back for a 5-4 victory. Johnson again led the Avalanche attack with four goals and Prien scored one. Jamaar Manor assisted on one of Johnson's goals. Kobe Manor was in goal for Monroe and stopped 24 shots.
