MONROE - The Avalanche Squirt A team split two weekend games. On Saturday, Dec. 8, the Avalanche shut out the Madison Polar Caps B Blue team 11-0.
Scoring for the Avalanche were Payton Stauffacher (hat trick) Cade Janecke (two goals), Anika Einbeck (two goals), Tessa Janecke, Hayden Roth, Luke Kuberski and Alyssa Knauf. Earning assists were Anika Einbeck (two), Stauffacher, Roman Bauer, Hayden Roth, Knauf, Tessa Janecke and Kuberski. Goalie Heath Bear recorded eight saves as the Avalanche defensive line consisting of Bauer, Haley Knauf, Stauffacher, and Kaiden Klitzke kept the Polar Caps at bay. The Avalanche had 27 shots on goal.
On Sunday, Dec. 9, the Avalanche Squirt A hosted the Janesville Squirt A team and lost 5-3. In the first period, Janesville scored three goals and the Avalanche's Tessa Janecke scored one for Monroe.
The Avalanche built some momentum in the second and third periods. Tessa Janecke scored all three Avalanche goals, assisted twice by Alyssa Knauf. Bear recorded 27 saves. The Avalanche had 17 shots on goal.
Squirt B
The Avalanche Squirt B split two weekend games. On Saturday, Dec. 8 the Avalanche Squirt B took on Oregon 1. The Avalanche dominated the game with 39 shots on goal and won 8-1.
Scoring for the Avalanche were Ethan Williams (three goals), Rebekah Rath (two goals), Alvin Buholzer, Brady Smith and Ryan Molitor. Kendall Wild earned an assist on the last goal. Goalie Aiden Runkle recorded five saves.
On Sunday, Dec. 9, the Avalanche Squirt B hosted Wisconsin Dells A. It was a tight contest and with 15 seconds left in the game, Wisconsin Dells scored the winning goal, defeating the Avalanche 4-3. Scoring for the Avalanche were Jayden Johnson and Ethan Wiliams (two goals). Earning assists were Rath and Alvin Buholzer. Runkle recorded 23 saves while the Avalanche had 21 shots on goal.
Mite White
The Avalanche Mite White team played two games at home on Dec. 9. The first game the Avalanche played Iron Man hockey (all 5 players played the entire 17 minutes), and they picked up their first win of the season over the Madison Polar Caps 5-1.
Lilah Bauer and Blaze Janecke each lit the lamp with two goals, and Anna Malone added one. Goalie Jack Leverton recorded 19 saves.
In the second game against Beloit, the Avalanche Mite White fell 3-0. Goalie Jack Leverton recorded 11 saves.
Mite Blue
The Avalanche Mite Blue team traveled to Stoughton on Dec. 9. It was a tough day for the Mite Blue as they lost all three games. The first game, the Avalanche fell 5-1 to Stoughton. Seth Brandt scored the lone Avalanche goal. Xander Obert recorded 10 saves.
The second game the Avalanche took on the Madison Patriots and lost a close game 2-1. Brandt scored the lone Avalanche goal. Obert recorded 10 saves. In the third game, the Avalanche Mite Blue lost to Oregon 4-1. Brandt again scored the lone Avalanche goal. Obert recorded 11 saves.
