JEFFERSON - Monroe junior Taylor Soddy is still in contention for a second straight trip to the state tennis meet.
Soddy beat Whitewater's Jeremy Korf 6-0, 6-0 Monday in the WIAA Jefferson subsectional to advance to the sectional. Soddy will be the only Cheesemaker player advancing to the sectional.
Madison Edgewood 24 points) won the subsectional over McFarland (18). Monroe finished tied for fifth (6) with east Troy at the at the nine team subsectional.
The other Monroe wins came from freshman Kevin Noriega at No. 2 singles, who defeated East Troy's Eric Saltzman 6-1, 6-0 before losing to Edgewood's Zach Munns 6-1, 6-0. At No. 3 singles, freshman Eric Bush defeated East Troy's Zack Weber 6-0, 6-0 before dropping a match to Edgewood's Billy O'Brien 6-1, 6-2. Freshman Matt Monahan defeated Whitewater's Wentao Guo 6-0, 6-0 before losing to Edgewood's Charlie Kirsh 6-4, 6-3.
