SOUTH WAYNE - The 11th annual Six Rivers All-Star Classic basketball games are slated for June 24 at Juda School in Juda.
The girls game will tip-off at 6 p.m. and will be followed by a 3-point challenge, in which two girls from each team will shoot for 2 minutes, followed by two boys for the same length of time. A cumulative score from both genders will determine a winner. Coaches will determine shooters in advance.
The West leads the all-time girls all-star series 7-3. Last year, the East defeated the West 67-58.
The boys game will follow the 3-point competition, with a tip-off at about 8 p.m.
The East boys lead the all-time series 7-3. The West boys beat the East last year 78-69.
The all-star games are a fundraiser for the American Family Children's Hospital in Madison. Black Hawk girls basketball coach Mike Flanagan, who serves as the Six Rivers All-Star game director, said the event has raised more than $11,000 since it was launched by former Black Hawk boys basketball coach Jerry Mortimer.
Flanagan said the goal is to raise another $1,000 to $1,500 this year.
"We hope that a lot of fans come out and support the cause," Flanagan said. "It is a credit to the conference to contribute to children in need. Furthermore, it's a chance to watch some great players one last time locally. Kids who have competed against each other for years will now join forces and form new friendships."
A concession stand will be available.
