Silver Eagles dominate singles

MONONA - The Monroe girls tennis team was swept in four singles matches but won at No. 1 doubles, ultimately falling to host Monona Grove 6-1 in a dual meet Tuesday.

Monroe's No. 1 doubles team of juniors Ellie Grossen and Chandra McGuire defeated Monona Grove's Dana Guenterberg and Shawna Loniello, 6-1 6-0. At No. 2 doubles, Monona Grove's Allison Shaver and MacKenzie Lee defeated Allie Coplien and Erin Gellings, 6-4 6-3. At No. 3 doubles, Monroe's Paige Prien and Sarah Sabatke fell to Morgan Bohn and Danya Trimborn, 6-2 6-2.

On the singles side, the Silver Eagles swept the Cheesemakers.

Monroe's Macayla Quinn lost to Tess Palmer 7-6 (3) 6-3 at No. 1 singles; Chelsea Miller lost to Kezia Weigel-Sterr 4-6 6-0 6-4 at No. 2 singles; Alisa Fager lost to Sarah Trimborn 6-3 6-4 at No. 3 singles; and Sarah Wong lost to Taylor Nelson 6-2 6-0 at No. 4 singles.
