Sign ups set for softball, Midget league play

MONROE - Monroe Parks and Recreation is still taking registrations for Teenie Tiny and Lassie Softball and Kiwanis Midget League. They are asking participants to register now, parks and recreation officials are ordering shirts this week. Children can still register after shirts are ordered, but they may not get the size of their choice.

Teenie Tiny and Lassie Softball

Teenie Tiny and Lassie Softball is offered to girls entering kindergarten through fourth grade. The softball program is on Wednesday nights at Twining Park, from June 15 to July 27. Girls entering kindergarten or first grade meet from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. Girls entering second grade meet from 6:15-7 p.m. and girls entering third and fourth grade meet from 7 to 8 p.m. The cost is $17 for residents and $27 for non-residents. Instructors are Dale Buvid and MHS Softball players.

Midget League

Midget League is for boys entering kindergarten through third grade at Recreation Park from June 14 to July 28. Boys entering kindergarten and first grade meet on Tuesdays, from 5:15 to 6 p.m. or 6 to 6:45 p.m. The Cost is $17-resident and $27-non-resident. Boys entering second and third grade can choose one day. The times for second and third graders are on Thursdays from 5:15 to 6 p.m. or 6 to 6:45 p.m., or two days, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:45 to 7:30 p.m. or 7:30 to 8:15 p.m. The cost for the one day is $17-resident and $27-non resident and the two day is $25-resident and $35-non-resident. Instructors are Mike Demianiuk, Kyle Klopfenstein, Drew Geissbuhler, Kevin Klopfenstein, and Eric Jubeck.

Registrations are taken at the Monroe Parks and Recreation office, located in the lower level of City Hall, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Registrations also can be left in the drop box outside the office. Registrations are not taken over the phone.
