Shell's 23 power Albany past Argyle

ARGYLE - Sophomore Isaiah Shell pumped in 23 points and junior Tyler VanDusen added 10 as the Albany boys basketball team rolled to a 50-36 win against Argyle in Six Rivers East Conference play Tuesday.

"You like to see good teams that play hard, win, and that's what Albany did," Argyle coach Brandon Bakken said.

"We have a hard time staying focused, so we have a ways to go."

Sophomore Alec Treuthardt scored 10 points for Argyle.

Albany (4-2, 3-0 Six Rivers East) will travel to Orangeville for a non-conference game Dec. 29 while Argyle (1-6,

0-3) hosts Belmont in a non-conference game Thursday.

Juda 49, Pecatonica 25

JUDA - Senior Brandon Bauman scored 19 points and Juda pitched a first-quarter shutout in its Six Rivers East victory.

The Panthers (3-2, 1-1 Six Rivers East) led 16-0 after one quarter and 29-11 at halftime.

"We played good team defense and made good decisions on the offensive end," Juda coach Mike Armitage said.

Senior Joey Jordan added 11 points for Juda. Senior Karson Feller scored 14 points to lead Pecatonica (1-5, 0-2 Six Rivers East).

DARLINGTON 49, BOSCOBEL 39

DARLINGTON - Senior Brandon Hardyman carried Darlington early and the Redbirds' defense did some of its best work in the waning minutes of a SWAL victory.

Hardyman scored 15 of his 22 points in the first half, leading Darlington to a 21-19 halftime lead. Coach Mike Hopkins said Hardyman and senior Mitchell Whalen keyed a strong team defensive effort in the fourth quarter, when the Redbirds outscored Boscobel (4-3, 2-2) by a 15-6 margin to seize control after leading just 34-33 after three quarters.

Whalen and senior Cedric Flesher each had 10 points for the Redbirds (5-3, 2-2 SWAL).

Barneveld 54, Black Hawk 45

BARNEVELD - Fifth-ranked Barneveld outscored Black Hawk 20-9 in the fourth quarter of its Six Rivers East victory.

The Warriors held a 36-34 lead entering the fourth quarter, but the Eagles came back to get their sixth straight victory and give the Warriors their third straight loss.

Junior Cory Rupnow scored 15 points and junior Cuyler Meier added 12 for Black Hawk (2-5, 0-2 Six Rivers East). Senior Sam Nechkash led Barneveld with 14 points.

Dodgeville 64, Monticello 47

MONTICELLO - Senior Jake Bechen poured in 27 points in Dodgeville's non-conference win.

The Ponies (2-4, 1-1 Six Rivers East) trailed the Dodgers 8-0 early and 31-15 at halftime. Senior Brian Rufener scored 12 points to lead Monticello and senior Lukas Kolasch chipped in with 11.
