Seven hardly lucky for MHS baseball

MONONA - The numeral seven was more crooked than it was lucky for Monroe baseball in Tuesday's 11-1, five-inning road loss to Monona Grove.

The Silver Eagles hung seven runs in the second as the Cheesemakers committed both of their errors in the inning. Grove also struck four of its seven hits in the frame, while Monroe starter Jake Teasdale walked two batters and plunked another.

"It was difficult to stop their momentum and that inning took us out of the game," Christensen said.

The Cheesemakers (3-11, 2-10 Badger South) scored their lone run in the fourth as junior third baseman Taylor Weckerly scored on a Brett Stangel sacrifice fly after leading off with a double.
