MONROE - The Fort Atkinson boys tennis team knocked off Monroe 6-1 in the final conference dual match of the regular season on Tuesday.

The only win for the Cheesemakers came from senior Silas Setterstrom at No. 1 singles. Setterstrom defeated Tanner Bakken 6-3, 6-1.

"This was a match we thought we could be a lot closer coming into it, but we struggled to gain any momentum for the most part as a team" Monroe coach Matt Bordner said. "Silas played another strong match fending off Fort's No. 1 singles player, and I was really proud of the focus and confidence level he maintained throughout the match."

At No. 2 singles, Fort Atkinson's Collin Baker defeated Monroe senior Nick Baumann 6-1, 6-0. At No. 3 singles, the Blackhawks' Jon Wachuta beat the Cheesemakers' Nathan Smith 6-1, 6-1. Fort Atkinson's Chris Bobholz defeated Monroe's Quinn Walsh 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4 singles.

The Blackhawks' No. 1 doubles team of Zach Yang and Jon Hoffman beat Monroe seniors Ryan Peterson and Alex Tordoff 6-4, 6-4. At No. 2 doubles, Fort Atkinson's Caleb Brown and Evan Jaime defeated Monroe seniors Jacob Kind and Ross Oxenrider 6-2, 6-2. The Blackhawks' No. 3 doubles team of Devin Riggs and Joe Yang beat the Cheesemakers' Scott Navarro and Landon Knobel 6-1, 6-2.

"We need to figure out a way to regroup from this and put forth a better team performance heading into Thursday's home match against Big Foot," Bordner said.
