STOUGHTON - The Monroe swimming team set 17 personal records, but lost a dual meet to Stoughton 114-56 Tuesday night.

"In the water tonight we were a little tentative and sluggish," Monroe coach Linda Moser said. "Even though we pulled out 17 PRs, I feel the intensity of the team was lacking tonight. Tomorrow we are at the point in the season where we have to crunch numbers and look at what has to happen over the next four weeks to help us meet our original goals."

Monroe senior Rachel Root won the 200-meter individual medley with a time of 2 minutes, 16.16 seconds, and she finished first in the 100 backstroke (1:00.75).

"She was disappointed with her times, but as always has the right attitude of tomorrow is another day and another opportunity to practice and improve," Moser said.

The 400 freestyle relay team of Angie Beaver, Briana Katzenberger, Sarah Kind and Root took first with a time of 4:05.27. The quartet also finished second in the 200 medley relay (2:08.37).

The 200 free relay team of Anna Meritt, Mackenzie Hesgard, Amanda Putz and Corlissa Robertson finished third with a time of 2:05.28.

Katzenberger had a PR in the 50 free with a time of 27.98 along with Putz and Mary Kelly. Beaver had a PR in the 200 freestyle and Hesgard added to the PR board for the team with a 100 breaststroke swim of 1:32.66.

Grace Moehn set PRs in both of her individual events, 200 freestyle and 100 breaststroke along with Alyssa Sinkule in the 200 freestyle and the 100 backstroke. Hailey Kaiser set PRs in the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke, and Meritt set PRs in the 200 freestyle and 50 freestyle.
