ASHWAUBENON - The Monroe girls swimming team had a chance to tour Lambeau Field Saturday following a triangular swimming meet with Ashw-aubenon and Freeport.

Freeport won the meet Friday racking up 684 points, which was just ahead of Ashwaubenon (669). Monroe finished third with 540 points.

"In the pool, we swam against two teams with a lot of talent," Monroe coach Linda Moser said. "We had our work cut out for us in the water and we knew that going in. We looked more tired than we did at Stoughton, which was something I expected. Yet we still had PRs again by many of our swimmers and we had a few swimmers swim through the pain of nagging injuries."

Monroe sophomore Rachel Root won the 100-yard butterfly with a personal record time of 1 minute, 3.88 seconds and she won the 200 backstroke (1:03.23). Root teamed with Leanna Schwartzlow, Sarah Kind and Angie Beaver to take second in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:59.26.

Schwartzlow finished second in the 100 breaststroke (1:12.86) and third in the 200 individual medley (2:23.26). Schwartzlow and Root teamed with Jess Moehn and Beaver to finish third in the 200 freestyle relay (1:52.12).

Beaver set PRs with her times in both the 100 and 200 freestyles. Shelby Coffey set two PRs in the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke.

Moehn added third place-finishes with a PR in the 200 freestyle (2:21.18) and in the 200 backstroke (1:10.12).

Cat Weeden took fourth in the 200 IM (2:45.12) and senior Nichole Lattin was fourth in the 100 breaststroke (1:23.49). Weeden set a PR in the backstroke by almost a second.

Lattin and Weeden teamed with Anika Nelson and Rachel Wellnitz for a fourth-place finish in the 200 freestyle relay. The Cheesemakers' 400 freestyle relay team of Sarah Tomasiewicz, Jenni Sefcik, Nelson and Kind teamed up for a fourth-place finish (4:42.68).
