PATCH GROVE - A banked-in 3-pointer with less than a second to play lifted River Ridge over Black Hawk 46-45 Friday in a Six Rivers Challenge game.

Senior Jacob Quinn scored on a layup with six seconds to go that gave the Warriors a two-point lead. Black Hawk freshman Conner Meyer blocked a shot out of bounds with about 3 seconds left, and the Timberwolves had one last chance. River Ridge's Ben Ertz banked in a 3-pointer with 0.8 seconds to go for the winning basket.

The Warriors had one last-ditch shot with 0.6 seconds left. A lob pass to the basket was deflected away by Ertz to preserve the win.

"He (Ertz) made two big plays down the stretch," Black Hawk coach Charlie Anderson said. "We just didn't make enough plays."

Black Hawk (8-8, 4-4 Six Rivers East) jumped out to a 27-14 lead at the half. The Warriors shot 1-for-16 from 3-point range.

"On offense, we were not being aggressive," Anderson said. "We were passive. We settled for jump shots instead of going inside."

Black Hawk junior Josh Meier scored a team-high 15 points. He missed about 10 minutes of time after he suffered an ankle injury. Senior teammate Chase Stietz added 13 points.

The Timberwolves outscored the Warriors 32-18 in the second half.
