NEW GLARUS - The Monroe Brewers edged New Glarus 3-2 in a Home Talent Thursday night league game.
Monroe graduate Kris Rieder pitched 5 2/3 innings and gave up only three hits. He struck out five to get the win. With the win, the Brewers improve to 2-1 in the Thursday night league.
"He pitched really well," Monroe co-player-manager Lon Scheuerell said.
Matt Busjahn went 2-for-3 to lead the Brewers. Monroe alum Brett Mulhall scored the Brewers' first run on a double steal in the second inning when he stole home. Monroe's Mitch Marty delivered an RBI single in the third. Marty later came in to score on Busjahn's RBI groundout.
