BLANCHARDVILLE - Darlington senior Cade Hardyman scored a game-high 16 points to lead the Redbirds to a 48-47 nail-biting win over Pecatonica Monday, Dec. 30.
Pecatonica (4-4, 3-1 Six Rivers East) jumped out to a 17-5 lead in the first quarter and led by seven points at the half. Darlington (4-1, 2-0 SWAL) outscored the Vikings 19-12 in the third quarter to tie the game at 39.
Darlington junior Cole McDonald scored 12 points and Ben Muhlstein added eight points.
Pecatonica junior Drew Schliem scored a team-high 14 points and made two 3-pointers. Pecatonica's A.J. Hendrickson added 13 points. Both the Vikings and Redbirds each made five 3-pointers.

DARLINGTON - The Darlington girls basketball team couldn't overcome a slow start in a 63-28 non-conference loss to Platteville Monday, Dec. 30.
Platteville jumped out to a 15-7 lead in the first quarter and built a 13-point lead at the half. The Hillmen outscored the Redbirds 29-13 in the second half and limited the Redbirds to just two points in the fourth quarter.
Darlington (1-6) will host Iowa-Grant Monday, Jan. 6.
