DARLINGTON - The Panthers breezed past Darlington, closing out the regular season in straight sets 25-10, 25-18, 25-14.

The Redbirds started all five seniors in game one for senior night. They returned to their regular lineup the rest of the way and the scores got closer but their coach was still unhappy with their performance.

"We played terrible in the back row tonight," Darlington coach Jen Schwartz said. "Serving and passing are normally our strong suits, but we didn't get it done passing tonight."

Allie Kissel was the star in a losing effort for the Redbirds (0-12 SWAL), leading the team with seven kills and three blocks. Jenna Foulker had four aces to pace Darlington.

"Allie Kissel has come a long way," Schwartz said. "She was the kills leader and played the net really well."

Monticello 3,

Black Hawk 0

SOUTH WAYNE - In beating Black Hawk the Ponies accomplished one of their goals for the season - an unbeaten conference record - taking the match 25-22, 25-17, 25-11.

Marissa Berg led all players with 10 kills for Monticello (15-3, 12-0 Six Rivers East) and Alyssah Kubly had six. Berg was also the match's high player with five blocks.

"They were pretty excited when it was over," Ponies coach Scott Smice said of his team's perfect conference season. "I would say there were some nerves early but we were able to settle in and get the win."

Claire Bruns led the team with three aces and 23 assists. Sam Lovelace led the Warriors with three aces and sophomore Aleigha Sigafus led the team with three kills.

"Jordan Garrison, MacKenzie Zanow, Jordan Hawthorn and Brooke Bidlingmaier don't play a lot, but they were called on and they came in and did a great job after a tough first game," Smice said. "It was a complete team effort."

New Glarus 3, Marshall 1

MARSHALL - The Glarner Knights came out on top in a closely contested match against Marshall, winning 25-21, 25-22, 17-25, 26-24.

Mandi Sargent led New Glarus (9-18, 6-4 Capitol South) with nine kills, followed by Maddie Macht's eight. Macht led the team with 17 digs and rounded out the stat sheet with five aces, second only to Breanne Kreklow's six. Kreklow also led the Glarner Knights in assists, dishing out 32.

Barneveld 3,

Albany 0

BARNEVELD - The Eagles won in straight sets over struggling Albany 25-19, 25-22, 25-11.

Ashlee Berra led the Comets (3-17, 1-11) in three statistical categories, getting three aces, five kills and three blocks.

"Ashlee Berra tried to motivate her teammates," Albany coach Connie Wunschel said. "When she gets going it really helps the team."

Peyton Bloedel had seven assists for the Comets and Felicia Conley notched eight digs.

"We had a better game than we did against Albany where we just couldn't hit anything," Wunschel said. "We kept it in play and they had to play the ball, but we didn't do enough to get the win."
