BOSCOBEL - Darlington girls basketball coach Kelly Rose challenged her team with the Redbirds down by 19 points at halftime.
Darlington (1-9, 0-5 SWAL) responded by outscoring Boscobel 20-12 in the second half, but the Redbirds lost 41-30.
"We definitely had to be mentally prepared to come out and play in the second half," Rose said.
Boscobel jumped out to a six point lead in the first quarter and led the Redbirds at the half 29-10.
Rose said the Redbirds had better execution in the second half and if they would have started the game that way it's a game they could have won.
Boscobel's Tayler King scored a game-high 12 points. Teammates Keely Foley and Kenzie Trum each added nine points.
Darlington's Mariah Wiegel scored a team-high nine points and Taryn Rankin added eight points.
"We are making progress, but it has to be a mindset," Rose said. "We have to buy into it. We have to execute what we have been working on."
