LIVINGSTON - It was neck-and-neck for the first half of the game between Darlington and Iowa-Grant on Friday, Dec. 13 as the Redbirds entered halftime down by three points. But a solid defensive outing in the second half allowed coach Michael Hopkins and his team to mount a comeback and secure the victory with a final score of 42-28.
"Our defense was really good throughout the game," Hopkins said.
After getting in the bonus early in the fourth quarter, Hopkins made it a point for his team to get to the free throw line to collect some easy points.
"We were missing our free throws at first, but towards the end we started making them when we needed them," he said.
Twelve of the Redbirds' 20 fourth quarter points came from the foul line. Junior Cole McDonald paced the way for the Redbirds with 16 points while fellow teammate Michael Ruf added 12 points.
