HAZEL GREEN - The Darlington backcourt tandem of Alex Erickson and Tucker Wiegel combined to score 37 points as the Redbirds edged Southwestern 58-53 Saturday.
Darlington (17-2, 11-1 SWAL), ranked No. 8 in the Associated Press Division 4 poll, jumped out to a 15-11 lead in the first quarter. The Redbirds led 28-21 at halftime and were able to hang on down the stretch.
Erickson scored a game-high 22 points and Wiegel added 15, which came on five 3-pointers.
Barneveld 65, Pecatonica 32
BARNEVELD - The Eagles lived at the free-throw line in rolling to a 65-32 win over Pecatonica.
The Eagles outscored the Vikings 24-7 in the second quarter to take a commanding 36-15 halftime lead.
The Eagles (14-3, 9-0 Six Rivers East) made 24 of 33 free throws and remain a game ahead of Monticello (13-5, 8-1) in the conference. Pecatonica (3-13, 2-6) was led by J.J. Hogan who scored seven points and junior Karson Feller who had six.
