Redbirds all going to state

BOSCOBEL - Darlington is sending both its boys and girls cross country teams to state, thanks to a dominating performance at Saturday's WIAA Division 3 Boscobel Sectional.

Sophomore Tyson Miehe paced the field for Darlington, winning the race by 22 seconds (16:39). Teammate Destin Komprood was third (17:07), and Michael Sinclair and Ken Miehe finished 5-6 with times of 17:17 and 17:24, respectively. Garth Garrison (17:54) capped the Redbirds scoring with a 14th-place finish in the boy's 5-kilometer run.

Albany's Reece Whitehead (17:11) was fourth overall and qualified for state, Pecatonica-Argyle's Wyatt Massey (17:38) came in eighth, and Albany's Jose Ramirez (17:39) finished ninth. As a team, Albany was third, losing to Boscobel for the final team spot at next week's state meet by just 12 points.

Pecatonica-Argyle was sixth as a team.

On the girls side, Christa Wamsley edged teammate Hannah Robiolio for second place overall (16:02-16:03). Pec-Argyle's Kendra Sigg (16:13) came in fifth to qualify for state, and Albany's Bailey Hlavachek (16:28) was eighth in the girl's 4-kilometer run.

Amy Jorgenson and Harley Douglas finished 9-10 with an identical time of 16:33. Freshman Johanna Meister (17:02) capped the scoring for the Redbirds.
