Redbird wrestlers come up short at Horicon Invite

HORICON - The Darlington wrestling team dropped a pair of dual matches at the Horicon Invitational on Saturday.

The Redbirds lost to Markesan (43-30) and to Horicon (42-33).

Darlington won five matches against Markesan, three of which came from forfeits. Casey Lobdell won at 152 for the Redbirds, pinning Jared Leahey in 3 minutes, 52 seconds. Alex Schulte also picked up a win for the Redbirds, pinning Franci Monsivais in just 47 seconds.

Five Redbirds won against Horicon. Lobdell was the only repeat winner for Darlington, beating Horicon's Nick Kufalk by a 11-10 decision. Kyrin Halvorson (126), Patrick Roche (138), Slade Norton (182), and Zach Wolf (285) were the other victorious Redbirds.

Darlington's season continues on Friday with a dual match at Fennimore.
