MONROE — Friends of Mark Mueller restarted a scholarship fund in his honor and will be hosting a fundraising event Feb. 7.
Mueller, a 2001 Monroe graduate, unexpectedly passed away while attending school at UW-Madison in 2003. Eric Jubeck, Dan Zwygart, Ian Stormont and Jim Curran, all friends of Mueller, helped restart the scholarship program.
“Last year we gave out $4,000 and we are hoping to keep this going,” Jubeck said. “We want to get an annual event going, and we decided to get going with a variation of Punt, Pass, and Kick — but for ‘has beens’.”
The event will take place at Twining Park in Monroe from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. the day of Super Bowl LV. There is an entry fee of $5 for kids and $20 for adults. Raffle tickets will also be sold. Competitors will be placed into three categories: Under 13, 13-39, and 40-plus.
