FREEPORT — Highland Community College is adding Men’s and Women’s NJCAA cross-country to its athletic program beginning with the Fall 2021 academic year. The additional programs make 10 athletic teams for the Cougars.
This is the first time in the history of the college that cross-country is part of the many athletic programs offered. A search for a coach to lead the Cougar cross-country program has begun, with one coach needed for both teams.
“We are looking to grow our athletic programs at Highland, and with the popularity of cross-country participation in high schools and other colleges, this is a great way to expand on Cougar Nation athletics,” said Pete Norman, Highland Athletic Director. “We are always looking to continue to grow our programs, and this is the next logical step.”
