BRODHEAD — Former Brodhead Cardinal softball star McKenna Young has transferred to Penn State from South Dakota through the player portal. 

The announcement was made last week.

Young made 32 appearances as a sophomore this spring with South Dakota, pitching 128 innings and 152 strikeouts while allowing just 111 hits. She was named to the All-Summit League Second Team. She had a 3.46 ERA in 79 innings as a freshman in 2024.

Young, who had a 14-8 record with a 2.46 ERA and a save this season, has two years of eligibility remaining.
