Abbie Dix named all-region for UWW

WHITEWATER — Abbie Dix, a Human Performance major from Brodhead, is one of two members of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater volleyball team who were selected to the NCAA Division III All-Region 8 team by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.

Dix, a middle hitter, was selected First Team All-Region 8 this season. The junior is the nation’s top blocker for the second consecutive season with 153 total blocks — an average of 1.43 per set. Dix leads UW-Whitewater in kills (303) and points (404) this season. With 426 career blocks, Dix is ranked seventh in the UWW record book.

Aubrie Krzus (Wheaton, Ill.) was a honorable mention selection this season. The setter is ranked 18th in Division III in total assists this season with 1,070. Her 9.73 assists leads the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. In addition to running the offense, Krzus has registered 28 aces and 158 kills on a .342 attack percentage. Defensively, Krzus is third on the squad with 87 blocks. Her 3,368 career assists is ranked sixth in program history.

The Warhawks opened the program’s 36th appearance in the NCAA Division III Championship Nov. 20, against Coe College, winning in three sets, 25-21, 25-11, 25-15. The Warhawks were knocked out of the tournament in the second round on Nov. 21 against Calvin University, 27-29, 25-12, 23-25, 18-25.
